A local radio personality was attacked in her home early this morning.
Clear Channel Radio personality Karla James was attacked just after 1:30 a.m. today at her home on North Main Street when she was letting her dog out, said Fremont Police Department deputy chief Steve Tellatin.
A masked man using a long screwdriver as a weapon forced her back into her house and attempted to sexually assault her, Tellatin said. When she was able to fight him off, he robbed her of cash and demanded the keys to her Jeep Liberty that was parked in an alley behind her house.
James told police her attacker held the screwdriver to her throat and threatened to kill her if she called the police, according to information on the KFAB Web site. Her attacker then took $10 from her.
She suffered some minor bumps and bruises when she was pushed to the ground, the Web site stated.
The Jeep was spotted by Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies around Valley on U.S. Highway 275 and was stopped near Dodge and 206th streets just outside of Omaha.
Douglas County deputies took two men who were in the Jeep into custody, Tellatin said.
Tellatin said the man who attacked James was 17. The other man was 22, but Tellatin said Fremont police officers aren't sure what role he played.
Police are not identifying the two until charges are filed, Tellatin said.
In addition to possible traffic charges in Douglas County, the two men are facing possible charges of robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, attempted sex assault and theft of vehicle, Tellatin said. The exact charges facing the 22-year-old are still uncertain.
“We'll know more as day goes on,” he said.
The two men were being questioned at press time by Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators.
James declined to be interviewed by the Fremont Tribune.
