A Fremont man accused of fighting with his girlfriend and refusing police orders was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Dodge County Court.
Julio Rivera, 24, of Fremont previously was convicted of domestic assault and obstructing a peace officer, both Class I misdemeanors, and violating a protection order, a Class II misdemeanor.
“From his criminal history, the defendant is no stranger to violating the law,” said Deputy Dodge County Attorney Mark Boyer. “This defendant is not an appropriate candidate for probation because of his previous assaults.”
Boyer asked for a two-year sentence.
Rivera was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Other cases heard Tuesday included (unless otherwise noted, an additional $44 in court costs is added to fines and jail sentences):
* Dustin D. Baier, 20, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $350.
* Brandy C. Bailey-King, 28, of Fremont pleaded guilty to false reporting, a Class I misdemeanor. She was fined $150.
* Mark J. Baumann, 24, of Columbus pleaded innocent to procuring alcohol for a minor, a Class I misdemeanor. An Aug. 28 pretrial conference was set.
* William L. Bruce, 19, of Fremont pleaded guilty to driving during revocation, a Class II misdemeanor. In exchange for his plea, the charge was amended from a second offense that carries a two-year driver's license revocation. He was sentenced to 48 hours in jail fined $150 and his driver's license was revoked for one year.
* Robert J. Bussen, 22, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. He was sentenced to seven days in jail, fined $400 and his driver's license was revoked for six months.
* Brad Nick was appointed to represent Marcus D. Campbell, 24, of Fremont. Campbell's hearing on a motion to revoke his probation for obstructing a peace officer and disturbing the peace, a Class III misdemeanor, was continued until Aug. 7.
* Mayra A. Castro, 18, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession. She was fined $250.
* Mary Ellis was appointed to represent Ian Galloway, 25, of Fremont and his arraignment on a motion to revoke his probation for child abuse, a Class I misdemeanor, was continued until Aug. 14.
* Kenneth D. Deemer, 24, of Tekamah admitted to violating his probation for DUI-first offense. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to seven days in jail and given credit for time served.
* Shawn P. Dolezal, 33, of Fremont had his sentencing for driving under suspension, a Class III misdemeanor, continued until Sept. 11.
* Steven A. Dunn, 22, of Fremont had his sentencing for driving under suspension continued until Sept. 11.
* Kelly Henry-Turner was appointed to represent Nathan M. Gilfry, 18, of Fremont and his arraignment on a motion to revoke probation and new charges was continued until Aug. 14. His new charges are DUI-first offense and the Class III misdemeanors of blocking a street and minor in possession. He is on probation for two counts of criminal mischief, Class I misdemeanors.
* Kari L. Gordon, 29, of Fremont was fined $100 for driving under suspension and making an improper lane change, an infraction.
* Cindy L. Hansen, 48, of Fremont pleaded guilty to reckless driving, a Class III misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana-less than an ounce, an infraction. She was fined $300.
* Chantz T. Hanson, 28, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. In exchange for his plea, the charge was amended from DUI-first offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content. He was sentenced to 48 hours in jail, six months of probation and fined $400. As part of his probation, he must attend a defensive driving class, a victim's impact panel and a chemical education class. He also must perform 60 hours of community service and his driver's license was revoked for 60 days. An ignition interlock device was approved.
* Scott D. Hinkel, 28, of Fremont pleaded no contest to DUI-first offense. He was sentenced to six months of probation and fined $400. As part of his probation, he must attend a defensive driving class, a victim's impact panel and a chemical education class. He also must perform 60 hours of community service and his driver's license was revoked for 60 days. An ignition interlock device was approved.
* Bryan Meismer was appointed to represent Eric Ihle, 22, of Kearney and his arraignment was continued until Aug. 14. Ihle is charged with procuring alcohol for a minor, a Class I misdemeanor, and minor in possession, a Class III misdemeanor.
* Keith R. Kelly, 47, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. A chemical evaluation was ordered and sentencing set for Aug. 27.
* Barry R. Kirschemann, 56, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. In exchange for his plea, the charge was amended from DUI-second offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content, a Class I misdemeanor. Sentencing was set for Oct. 30.
* Shane Placek was appointed to represent Chad Kohout, 19, of Morse Bluff and his arraignment was continued until Aug. 7. Kohout is charged with three counts of minor in possession, Class III misdemeanors.
* Brent P. Littrell, 31, of Fremont pleaded guilty to operating an all-terrain vehicle on the roadway, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $75.
* Clint R. Manning, 24, of Cedar Bluffs pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and first-degree criminal trespass, Class I misdemeanors. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for Sept. 4.
* Martin McGann, 23, of Fremont was fined $400 for procuring alcohol for a minor, a Class I misdemeanor.
* Stormy M. Neiss, 17, of Arlington had her arraignment for racing on the highway, a Class II misdemeanor, continued until July 31 so a parent could be here.
* Aaron J. Paden, 19, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor misrepresenting his age, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $250.
* Pam Hopkins was appointed to represent Jennifer Prall, 27, of Fremont and her arraignment was continued until Aug. 14. Prall is charged with DUI-first offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content and violation of a railroad crossing, an infraction.
* William H. Rahlfs, 26, of Fremont pleaded guilty to driving under suspension, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $75.
* Andrew S. Reinke, 22, of Lincoln pleaded guilty to driving under possession. Sentencing was set for Aug. 21.
* Leta Fornoff was appointed to represent Monica D. Robinson, 24, of Fremont and her arraignment on a motion to revoke her probation for DUI-first offense was continued until Aug. 14.
* Macario Sandoval Rios, 28, of Fremont pleaded guilty to no proof of insurance and no operator's license, a Class III misdemeanor. In exchange for his plea, charges of fictitious plates and no state park permit, both Class III misdemeanors, were dismissed. He was fined $150.
* Jeremy M. Siems, 20, of Fremont pleaded no contest to minor in possession, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $250.
* Jesse J. Silvey, 40, of Fremont had his arraignment for DUI-first offense continued until Sept. 4 so he could obtain an alcohol evaluation.
* Paul W. Smidt, 42, of Fremont was sentenced to 30 days in jail for obstructing a peace officer, a Class I misdemeanor.
* Allan Starkey, 35, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. He was sentenced to six months of probation and fined $400. As part of his probation, he must attend a defensive driving class, a victim's impact panel and a chemical education class. He also must perform 60 hours of community service and his driver's license was revoked for 60 days. An ignition interlock device was approved.
*n Rob Keith was appointed to represent Casey L. Stewart, 21, of Fremont and his arraignment was continued until Aug. 14. He is charged with obstructing a peace officer, a Class I misdemeanor, and disturbing the peace, a Class III misdemeanor.
* An Aug. 7 preliminary hearing was set for James J. Stiefel, 37, of Valley. He is charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, Class II felonies.
* Randy J. Stockton, 50, of Bellevue waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to Dodge County District Court for an Aug. 6 arraignment. He is charged with driving during a 15-year suspension-second offense, a Class III felony, and DUI-first offense and refusal of a chemical test, Class W misdemeanors.
* Joshua R. Taylor, 20, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. He was sentenced to six months of probation and fined $400. As part of his probation, he must attend a defensive driving class, a victim's impact panel and a chemical education class. He also must perform 60 hours of community service and his driver's license was revoked for 60 days.
* Justin J. Teeslink, 23, of Fremont pleaded guilty to writing an insufficient funds check, a Class II misdemeanor. He was fined $100 and ordered to pay $46 in restitution.
* Steven M. Thomas, 24, of Arlington pleaded guilty to racing on the highway, a Class II misdemeanor. He was fined $150.
* Bench warrants for failure to appear were ordered for: Melinda Holcomb, 22, Linzey A. Scheel, 24, and Rhonda L. Alberts, 45, all of Fremont; Paul Loyd, 42, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Zach C.
