A Lincoln man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Saunders County.
Kelly Ryan Delp, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:10 a.m. accident at the intersection of County Roads 17 and T.
Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said the intersection north of Colon has no stop signs or stop lights.
He said a 2003 Dodge crew cab pickup truck pulling a small utility flat bed trailer driven by Daniel J. Vanekelenburg, age unknown, of Lincoln was eastbound on County Road T with three passengers when it collided with a 2006 Ford F-250 crew cab pickup truck driven by Patrick L. Gaughen, age unknown, of Cedar Bluffs. Names of passengers were not released.
Stukenholtz said Gaughen was northbound on County Road 17 and struck the passenger side of Vanekelenburg’s truck. Delp was in the front passenger seat of Vanekelenburg’s vehicle when the accident occurred.
He said all of the other truck occupants were transported by rescue squad or LifeNet to Fremont Area Medical Center or University of Creighton Medical Center in Omaha with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
