White-out conditions likely contributed to a three-vehicle accident that closed U.S. Highway 30 for more than an hour Tuesday morning, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Donald Pulsifier, 66, of Omaha and Rebecca Massie, 28, of Oakland, were traveling at about 5 mph about 2 1/2 miles east of North Bend when Pulsifier was rear-ended by a westbound grain truck driven by Duane Lundy, 78, of Fremont, Dodge County Sheriff Steve Hespen said.

Pulsifier’s 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck was pushed into the back of Massie’s 2000 Chevrolet Malibu in the 8:55 a.m. accident.

Pulsifier was transported to Fremont Area Medical Center with neck and back pain, Hespen said. He was treated and released.

It is unknown what speed Lundy was traveling when the initial crash began.

No citations were issued.
