Alberta Lamme

Alberta Lamme, 96, of Fremont died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.

She was born Feb. 7, 1912, in St. Paul, Minn., and was raised in Grand Forks, N.D., graduating from East Grand Forks Minnesota High School in 1930. She was Phi Beta Kappa when she graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1935. Alberta worked in North Dakota and then attended graduate school at the University of Chicago School of Social Work. She worked as a social worker in North Dakota and Germany after joining the American Red Cross in 1945. Alberta DeLano married David Lamme on July 9, 1949, in Omaha and they moved to Fremont where she spent the rest of her life. David died April 24, 1966. Alberta worked at the Dodge County Welfare Office from 1969 until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women and PEO Chapter HK. She was a past docent for the Fremont Area Art Association, member of the Keep Fremont Beautiful Committee and a member of the Joslyn Art Guild.

Survivors include: two daughters, Libby (and husband, Robert) Vance of Fremont and Barbara (and husband, John) Harrington of Hastings; grandchildren, Megan McQuillan, Patrick McQuillan, Erin Howe, Betsy Vance, Natalie Vance and Nathan Vance; great-grandchildren, Kayla Howe and Jack Howe; a sister, June Nelson (and husband, Ron) of Langley, Wash.; sister-in-law, Beth DeLano of Northwood, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Nick Lamme (and wife, Cheryl), John Lamme (and wife, Iris), Tom Lamme, Katharine Brunskill, Susan Morris (and husband, John), Mardy Harrold (and husband, Tom), John Muller and Mark Muller.

The memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Fremont with the Rev. Mary Kate Schroeder officiating. There will be no visitation, the body will be cremated.

Memorials have been established to St. James’ Episcopal Church and Keep Fremont Beautiful.
