Knights finish 2nd at Tekamah meet

Douglas County West took top honors Thursday at the Northridge Tiger Golf Invite in Tekamah.

DC West had a score of 320 to edge out Fremont Bergan which finished with a 326.

Dylan Larson of DC West was the meet medalist with a 73 while Bergan’s Joey Spellerberg was second with a 74.

Johnny Spellerberg shot an 81 for Bergan to take seventh. Tony Savio had an 84 while Tom Wendt and Colby Ranslem finished with an 87 and 92, respectively.

“I am really proud of how the players approached this invite,” Fremont Bergan coach Chris Rainforth said. “We haven’t played very well as a team at this invite the last few years for one reason or another, so we were very focused on shooting well today.

“Joey did a great job of keeping the ball in play today, and he struck the ball extremely well.”

Arlington’s Beau Brown notched a fourth-place finish with a 78.

Oakland-Craig, which took fourth in the team race, was led by Brandon Bollinger’s ninth-place finish (82).
