Senior Jacob Schultz, a hurdler for the Fremont High School track team, took some time to sit down with school-to-career intern Derek Ruiz to reflect on his athletic career.
Question: What one word would you use to describe this year’s track team?
Answer: I’d say “Talented.” We are a very united team this year.
Q: What athletic abilities do you think are necessary to be successful at the hurdles?
A: You have to be fast, somewhat coordinated, and tough.
Q: What track event would be the hardest for you to compete in?
A: The pole vault. It just looks way too complicated to me.
Q: After you are done with a track meet, what do you eat?
A: I usually have a weird hunger for pancakes ... and I don’t know why
Q: What is the funniest thing you have done in the last week or so?
A: At the “Iron Man” movie premiere, I handmade a “Iron Man” outfit out of Saran wrap and wore it to the movie.
Q: What was the highlight of your track career?
A: At the Fremont Invitational this year, I ran well and was proud to be a Fremont Tiger.
Q: I am a freshman looking for a sport to compete in. What would you say to get me to join the track team?
A: Track is very successful at our school. I think it benefits other sports and our future success.
