Helen Bartosh, 84, of Fremont died Monday, May 5, 2008, while visiting in Grass Valley, Calif.
Helen was born Nov. 2, 1923, on the family farm near Ames to Hans and Anna Glindemann Gerths. Helen was a graduate of Dodge High School. She married Franklin G. Bartosh on Feb. 23, 1949, in Fremont. They farmed near Dodge until retiring and moving to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1982. Franklin died on March 8, 1989, in Florida, and later that year Helen moved to Fremont.
Helen was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Dodge.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Helen also was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Pfeiffer and Betty Costa; three brothers, Harry, George and John; and her parents, Hans and Anna Gerths.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Scribner Cemetery.
