The voters of Fremont and Dodge County finally have the opportunity to elect a local leader to the Metro College board. Roger Larsen is an outstanding candidate for this position.
Yearly, Dodge County sends more than $1.5 million in taxes to support the college. We have not had any representation on this board in over two decades. It is high time that Dodge County has a voice in the distribution of these tax funds.
Larsen has spent his entire career in education; either as a teacher in the Fremont Public Schools or working with community college faculties and boards as the director of the Nebraska State Education Association High Education Program.
He has been active as a representative for educational issues before the legislature and has served two terms on the Nebraska Commission on the Status of Women. He is active in his church and in local service organizations.
I urge you to vote for Larsen for the Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors on May 13. He’ll represent our interests well and will bring stability to a board that has too often been characterized as chaotic.
LETTER: Larsen will represent our interests well
