Tuesday is only the primary election, but several area races basically will be decided by its outcome.

Fremont voters in the Republican primary will decide who will be mayor and who will represent Ward 3.

Incumbent “Skip” Edwards faces Scott Schaller for Fremont mayor. There are no candidates from any other party seeking the position, so the winner of the primary will be unopposed in the Nov. 4 general election.

Republicans in Ward 3 will choose between Patti Emanuel-Vaughah, Sean Gitt and Chris Maki. Much like the mayor’s race, there are no candidates from any other party, so the winner will be unopposed in November.

There is one other contested race of note in Dodge County. In District 4 for the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, Republicans will pick a nominee to face incumbent Dean Lux in November. Terry Synovec faces Ken Walter for the nomination.

Polls are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
