Polls didn’t open until 8 a.m., but poll workers across the Fremont area were busy long before the first person cast a ballot.

Today is primary election day in Nebraska. There are several contested races in the area, including for Fremont mayor and Ward 3 on the Fremont City Council and District 4 on the Dodge County Board of Supervisors.

For poll workers Vicky Kiefer, Mildred Kirchmann, Caralee Johnson and Kay Pronske, the day began around 7:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1041 N. Nye Ave.

They arranged their work space, discussed voting procedures and then initialed ballots -- all prior to 8 a.m.

Polls are open until 8 p.m.

Check www.fremonttribune.com this evening for election results and pick up Wednesday’s Tribune for coverage of today’s vote.
