If your dope falls out of your wallet at a store, don’t check lost and found to get it back because police might get involved.

A Fremont man found that out Friday morning.

Terrance Dowd, 24, of Fremont was charged with possession of marijuana-less than an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia, both infractions.

Lt. Jeff Elliott said at about 8:25 a.m. Friday, the III-CORPS Drug Task Force received a call from the Wal-Mart Supercenter saying that Dowd had opened his wallet at a checkout and a bag of marijuana fell out. He left the store without the pot.

“A short time later, Wal-Mart received a call from Dowd saying he lost his Baggie and wanted to know if it had been turned in to lost and found,” Elliott said. “They said yes something had been turned in and contacted III-CORPS.”

When Dowd arrived to retrieve his drugs, he was contacted by the III-CORPS officer and a search of his vehicle by the K-9 unit found drug paraphernalia, including a scale.
