There was thunder and lightning but the storms that popped up in the Fremont area Monday produced very little rain.

Tribune weather spotters record just .02 inches of rain in Fremont, .08 inches in Wahoo, .06 inches in Arlington and .15 inches in Hooper.

And that isn’t the only chance of rain the area will see this week.

Actually, the forecast from the National Weather Service in Valley calls for a chance of thunderstorms every day the rest of the week. The best chance appears on Wednesday night when the forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms.

While today was to be mostly sunny with a high in the mid 80s, clouds begin to roll in this evening when the low should be in the upper 60s. There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms overnight.

Wednesday should start out partly sunny with a high temperature in the mid 80s. But there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms popping up. Storms are likely Wednesday night, especially after midnight. The low should be in the lower 60s.

It will cool off a bit Thursday when the high temperature should be in the upper 70s. Still, there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Temperatures move back into the lower 80s for Friday through Sunday.

A flood warning for the Elkhorn River at West Point was set to expire this morning. After climbing to 12.39 feet Monday - slightly above the 12-foot flood stage - the Elkhorn was at 7.47 feet at 6:30 a.m. today.

The Platte River near North Bend continued to be near its flood stage of 8 foot this morning. The river stood at 7.71 feet at 7:30 a.m., but was forecast to continue to slowly fall over the rest of the week.
