Money woes halt Wahoo ethanol plant

WAHOO (AP) - Wahoo city leaders and company officials say money problems have halted construction on a planned 160-acre ethanol plant northeast of the city.

Doug Watts is the executive director of the Wahoo Chamber of Commerce. He says he was told this week that the project is on hold.

Work on the plant was supposed to be under way, but company that runs it, E-85 Inc., says debt financing is taking longer than expected.

E-85 Senior Vice President Lynn Montague says the company hopes to have financing in place by September, and construction could resume soon afterward.

Watts says that since the project is in its early stages, the impact on the local economy is minimal.

with $8 a bushel corn, you will never see this plant up and running. It is a poor investment to think corn is the savior of the oil crisis!

It's suicidal for this country to continue to rely on imported oil.

The US of A either switches to alternative fuels (ethanol) or we kiss our backsides goodbye. We don't have a choice.
