County Court: ‘Habitual drunk driver’ sentenced for 2 convictions

A Fremont man a prosecutor called a “habitual drunk driver” was sentenced to jail Tuesday in Dodge County Court for two third-offense drunken driving convictions.

Anthony Wennstedt, 37, of Fremont had his probation for DUI-third offense revoked and was sentenced to two concurrent six-month jail sentences on that charge and a second DUI-third offense conviction. He was fined $1,200 and his driver’s license was suspended for 15 years.

“This is his true fifth DUI,” said Deputy Dodge County Attorney Oliver Glass. “This is the second time in the defendant’s history that he had a DUI probation revoked by getting another DUI. When Mr. Wennstedt drives, he is a risk to other drivers on the road. The public needs protection from drivers like this.”

Other cases heard Tuesday in Dodge County Court included (unless otherwise noted, an additional $44 in court costs is added to fines and jail sentences):

n Chase Backman, 22, of Fremont pleaded guilty to driving under the influence-first offense, a Class W misdemeanor. He was sentenced to seven days in jail, fined $400 and his driver’s license was revoked for six months.

n Billie Banks, 43, of Fremont pleaded guilty to driving under suspension, a Class III misdemeanor. She was fined $150 and her driver’s license was suspended for one year.

n Kara Baulder, 18, of Omaha pleaded guilty to minor in possession, a Class III misdemeanor. She was fined $250.

n Dillon Bittner, 17, of Fremont pleaded guilty to no proof of insurance, a Class II misdemeanor. He was fined $75.

n Bryan Meismer was appointed to represent Jarren Breeling, 23, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 12. Breeling is charged with unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, a Class II misdemeanor.

n Shane Placek was appointed to represent Jason Buck, 23, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 5. Buck is charged with first-degree criminal trespass, a Class I misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a Class III misdemeanor.

n Samuel Bunn, 20, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession, a Class III misdemeanor. He was fined $500.

n Amanda Osborn was appointed to represent Ashley Conklin, 21, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 12. Conklin is charged with unauthorized use of a financial transaction device and driving during suspension.

n Jordan Dean, 19, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession. He was fined $350.

n Adam Doty, 30, of North Bend pleaded guilty to driving under suspension. He was fined $75.

n Marcus File, 25, of Fremont pleaded no contest to theft by shoplifting-second offense, a Class I misdemeanor. He was sentenced to seven days in jail and fined $200.

n Jason Foster, 18, of Fremont pleaded no contest to third-degree assault by mutual combat, a Class II misdemeanor. He was fined $50.

n Shawn Gay, 21, of Omaha pleaded guilty to driving under suspension. Sentencing was set for Aug. 26.

n Brad Nick was appointed to represent Amanda Godina, 21, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 12. Godina is charged with unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.

n Brandie Hammond, 19, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession. She was fined $250.

n Dorothy Hansen, 28, of Fremont was sentenced to 48 hours in jail, six months of probation and fined $500 for DUI-first offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content, a Class I misdemeanor. As part of her probation, she must attend a defensive driving class, a victim’s impact panel and a chemical education class. She also must perform 60 hours of community service and her driver’s license was revoked for one year.

n James Houston, 22, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. A chemical evaluation was ordered and sentencing set for Aug. 26.

n Brent Huber, 19, of Oakland pleaded guilty to minor in possession. He was fined $250.

n Chad Hurrell, 19, of Craig pleaded guilty to minor in possession. He was fined $250.

n Destiny Kelley, 20, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession. She was fined $500.

n Dean Larson, 51, of Fremont pleaded innocent to DUI-second offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content. A jury trial was requested and an Aug. 5 pretrial conference was set.

n Melissa Schutt was appointed to represent Charles Maupin, 65, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 12. Maupin is charged with DUI first offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content and open container, an infraction.

n Laura McIntyre-Goins, 29, of Fremont had her sentencing for driving under suspension continued until Oct. 7.

n Tonja Morquecho, 28, of Fremont pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, a Class II misdemeanor. She was fined $200.

n Bob Krafka was appointed to represent Dylan O’Brien, 18, of Fremont and arraignment was continued until Aug. 5. O’Brien is charged with his sixth minor in possession charge.

n Robyn Owen, 21, of Fremont pleaded guilty to theft by shoplifting-second offense, a Class I misdemeanor. She was sentenced to seven days in jail and fined $200.

n Dylan Patterson, 19, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession and zero tolerance, an infraction. He was fined $325 and his driver’s license was impounded for 14 days.

n Anthony Perkins, 21, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. A chemical evaluation was ordered and sentencing was set for Aug. 26.

n Christianna Peterson, 18, of Fremont pleaded guilty to DUI-first offense. A chemical evaluation was ordered and sentenced set for Sept. 2.

n Justin Pohlmann, 18, of Fremont pleaded innocent to DUI-first offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content. He requested a jury trial and an Aug. 5 pretrial conference was set.

n Rita Kitchens-Bojaboj was appointed to represent Calvin Reed, 26, of Omaha and arraignment was continued until July 29. Reed is charged with criminal mischief, a Class I misdemeanor, and second-degree criminal trespass, a Class II misdemeanor.

n Edgar Romero, 24, of Fremont pleaded innocent to domestic assault, a Class I misdemeanor. An Aug. 5 pretrial conference was set. In a separate case, an Aug. 28 preliminary hearing was set for a charge of DUI-third offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content, a Class IIIA felony, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a Class II misdemeanor.

n Tanner Schatz, 20, of Fremont pleaded guilty to minor in possession. He was fined $350.

n Anjelica Schmidt, 18, of Fremont pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking, a Class II misdemeanor. She was sentenced to six months of probation. As part of that probation she must complete high school, 30 hours of community service and an appropriate decision making class.

n Skyler Tharp, 18, of Fremont pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class I misdemeanor. He was fined $500.

n Steven Twohig was appointed to represent Scott Thomas, 26, of Omaha and arraignment was continued until Aug. 26. Thomas is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a Class I misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana-less than an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia, infractions.

n Ashley VanMeer, 22, of Fremont waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to Dodge County District Court for an Aug. 11 arraignment. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, a Class III felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.

n Mark Warner Jr., 25, of Omaha pleaded guilty to DUI-second offense greater than .15 percent blood alcohol content. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, fined $1,000 and his driver’s license was suspended for one year.

n Bench warrants for failure to appear were ordered for: Kevin Savoie, 23, Victor Torres-Medina, 20, Sean Seagle, 20, Jesse Upchurch, 24, and Cesar Hinojosa, 35, all of Fremont; and Samantha Nelson, 21, of Omaha.
