A man found asleep on a nursing home couch entered into a plea agreement Monday in Dodge County District Court.
Joseph Scarpa, 21, of Fremont pleaded guilty to domestic assault-second offense with the same victim and making terroristic threats, Class IV felonies. In exchange for his plea, charges of use of a weapon to commit a felony, a Class III felony; child abuse, a Class IIIA felony; and possession of marijuana-less than an ounce, a Class III misdemeanor, were dismissed.
Scarpa had been arrested on the warrants July 13 when he was found sleeping on a couch at Arbor Manor.

An Ames man was granted work release against the argument of the Dodge County Attorney’s Office Monday in Dodge County District Court.
Christopher Johnson, 43, is being allowed to leave for work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. He originally requested to be released seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. but that was determined not reasonable by Dodge County Jail Administrator Doug Campbell.
Judge John Samson also ordered that Johnson submit to random drug tests and work visits during work release.
Johnson previously was convicted of violating his probation for attempted possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class I misdemeanor, and DUI-first offense, a Class W misdemeanor. He also previously was convicted of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class IV felony.
He is expected to complete his 10-month sentence in mid-September.
