The funeral for Evelyn Lodl, 77, of rural Schuyler will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church-Heun, rural Clarkson.
She died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
She was born Dec. 10, 1930, near Clarkson to Otto and Mary (Silacek) Hradec. She graduated as valedictorian from Clarkson High School in 1948. She married Lambert Lodl on April 26, 1951, at Heun. After marriage, Lambert was inducted into the U.S. Army and they lived at Petersburg, Va., for two years. They then moved to Schuyler and later purchased a farm in the Heun community where they had lived to the present time. They were the recipients of the Ak-Sar-Ben Pioneer Family Award.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Heun Altar Society and Heun Ladies Guild. She was very active in Family Community Education (FCE). She was a longtime member of the Heun FCE and a 50-year member of the Colfax County FCE as well as past president. She was an FCE Star member, was the National Heart of FCE in 2000 and was the county FCE bus tour chairperson. She also was a 40-year 4-H leader of the Jolly Jills 4-H Club, and a longtime member of the GFWC Clarkson’s Women’s Club.
Survivors include: her husband; two daughters, Lynn (and husband, Ray) Harms of Dodge and Dr. Kathleen Lodl of Lincoln; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the church with a wake service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge is in charge of arrangements.
