Betty A. Leedom, 68, of Ames died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont.
She was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Page to Oscar and Laura (Reeker) Boyer. She was raised in Omaha and also had lived in O’Neill and Norfolk before moving to Fremont in about 1972. She worked at the former Stormor in Fremont for 20 years. She moved to Ames in 1978. In 1993, she bought TJ’s Bar at Ames. She retired and sold the bar to her son in 1996.
She married Bob Jespersen in 1955 in Omaha. They later divorced. She married Wilbur Leedom in 1981 in West Point. He died in 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Dan Jespersen of Fremont; two daughters, Susan McDunn of Fremont and Lori Prochaska of Wahoo; her significant other, Gordon Beebe of Ames; a brother, Richard Boyer (and wife, Neola) of Eagle Bend, Minn.; a sister, Deloris Kyncl of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. John Emslie of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
