Betty A. Leedom, 68, of Ames died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont.

She was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Page to Oscar and Laura (Reeker) Boyer. She was raised in Omaha and also had lived in O’Neill and Norfolk before moving to Fremont in about 1972. She worked at the former Stormor in Fremont for 20 years. She moved to Ames in 1978. In 1993, she bought TJ’s Bar at Ames. She retired and sold the bar to her son in 1996.

She married Bob Jespersen in 1955 in Omaha. They later divorced. She married Wilbur Leedom in 1981 in West Point. He died in 1998.

Survivors include: a son, Dan Jespersen of Fremont; two daughters, Susan McDunn of Fremont and Lori Prochaska of Wahoo; her significant other, Gordon Beebe of Ames; a brother, Richard Boyer (and wife, Neola) of Eagle Bend, Minn.; a sister, Deloris Kyncl of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. John Emslie of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

So sorry to hear of your great loss. It happened so quickly it is hard to believe. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Just remember that if you need anything dont hesitate to call. She was a wonderful lady and such a joy to talk to. Gordie you are also in our thoughts and we are sorry for your loss.

SUSAN AND FAMILY,
SHOCKED TO READ ABOUT BETTY.WE HAD SOME GOOD TIMES AS TEENAGERS.ALWAYS RAN INTO HER AT FOOD FOR LESS AND WE STILL HAD SOME GOOD TALKS.
SHE WAS A FUN PERSON TO BE AROUND.SHE WILL BE MISSED.MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL AT THIS TIME.SHIRLEY

To Betty's children, grandchildren and to Gordon,

Some people come and go in life, but Betty was one that made a lasting memory in life. She was a great inspiration and always had a laugh.

I will never forget her and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Treasure the memories that you made with her.

Susan and families,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in your time of sorrow. Don't worry about work, Linda and I have it covered. Take the time you need to be with your family. I didn't know your mom, but I am reading she was a great lady. Please let me know if I can do anything for you or your famiilies.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother passing. She was only with us a short day or two at Arbor. The first day she was there she greeted me with a hello and a smile. you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
