Donald D. Mueller Sr., 75, of Fremont died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.
He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Craig to Frank and Ella (Lohemeyer) Mueller. He grew up in Fremont and was a life resident of Fremont. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from March 2, 1953, to Feb. 11, 1955. He was employed by Lyman Richey Sand & Gravel for more than 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He married Mary L. Kounouvsky on May 12, 1956, in Fremont. She died May 7, 1996.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854, both of Fremont. He had been inducted into the Fremont Bowling Hall of Fame.
Survivors include: a son, Donald Mueller Jr. (and special friend, Shawn Petersen) of Fremont; five daughters, Denise Drews, Susie Miller and Casey Dryden, all of Fremont, Tammy Patten (and fiancé, Robert Zupan) of Valley and Julie (and husband, Scott) Roumph of Cedar Bluffs; a brother, Robert Mueller of Fremont; a sister, Edith (and husband, George) Reese of Fremont; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Michael Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
