Fremont’s Francis is queen at Midland

Fremont’s Katie Francis and Jamison Meints of Colorado were crowned homecoming queen and king this weekend at Midland Lutheran College.

The theme for this year’s homecoming was “Celebrate Tradition.”

Francis, daughter of Wayne and Sharon Francis, is majoring in journalism with a concentration in advertising and public relations. She is minoring in business.

She has been on the dean’s list and is an Anderson Leader Scholar and earned the Gunner Horn Scholarship.

Francis also was involved in the homecoming nomination committee, Alpha Lambda Delta, dance team, Student Leadership Team, Student Senate, Campus Crusade, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Cardinal Key, the Midland newspaper and Student Orientation Committee.

She also has been active with Peace Lutheran Church as a youth group leader, lector and teacher.

Meints, son of John and Ramona Davis of Golden, Colo., and David and Patti Baker of Thornton, Colo., is majoring in business administration, with concentrations in marketing and management.

He has been on the dean’s list and been involved in Student Senate; PBL-SIFE; Cultural Unity; MATCH; the search committee for vice president of student development; Maintenance Department; and football.

Meints also is involved in the community with volunteer work at the Fremont Family YMCA and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Other members of the homecoming court were:

n Ron Kmiecik, a senior finalist, son of Ron and Diane Kmiecik, is from Omaha, and is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. He has been on the dean’s list and president’s list, was an NAIA Academic All-American and involved in Blue Key National Honor Society, the Learning Center, Midland Association of Student Health, teacher’s assistant, men’s basketball and coach of the men’s junior varsity basketball team.

n Ethan Stout, a senior finalist, son of Bob and Ginny Stout, is from Alliance and is majoring in biology. He has been named an NAIA All-American scholar-athlete, an Anderson Leader Scholar, the junior homecoming court, GPAC men’s tennis all-conference team honorable mention and the dean’s and president’s list. He has been involved in men’s tennis, Blue Key National Honor Society, Midland Association of Students in Health, Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Student Ambassador, the Learning Center, Student Orientation Committee.

n Mindy Liesemeyer, a senior finalist, daughter of Keith and Linda Liesemeyer, is from Unadilla and is majoring in business management and economics. She is minoring in psychology. She has been named to the dean’s list and involved in Alpha Lambda Delta, Cardinal Key, NAIA Scholar Athlete, volleyball team captain, Pi Epsilon, ACSA, PBL-SIFE, Beegle Hall Council and Greek Council.

n Lindsay Loftus, a senior finalist, daughter of Douglas Loftus, is from Ashland and is majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. She was recognized on the dean’s list and was involved in Pi Epsilon, StARS, CAB and dance team.

n Trisha Abbe, a senior semifinalist, daughter of Anne and Larry Abbe, is from Schleswig, Iowa, and is majoring in fitness/sports management, with minors in business, public relations and coaching.

n Elizabeth Fees, a senior semifinalist, daughter of Don and Lynne Fees, is from Omaha and is majoring in biology with minors in chemistry and nutrition.

n Jordan Goodall, a senior semifinalist, daughter of Lori and Ron Kendrick, is from Lakewood, Colo., and is majoring in human services.

n Nate Fryzek, a senior semifinalist, son of Chuck and Linda Fryzek, is from Burwell and is majoring in business administration with a concentration in accounting and management.

n Andrew Jacob, a senior semifinalist, son of Jeff and Carol Jacob, is from Fremont, and is majoring in business administration, with a concentration in accounting and management. He will return to Midland next year to begin work on his master’s of professional accounting degree and compete in cross country and track.

n Ryan Rogers, a senior semifinalist, son of Kevin and Becky Rogers, is from Yutan and is majoring in biology, with a minor in chemistry.

Members of the junior homecoming court were:

n Brock Ellis, son of Glen and Nancy Ellis, is from Fremont and is majoring in secondary education.

n Brad Hall, son of Tim and Kathy Hall, is from North Platte and a dual major in chemistry and biology.

n Kegan Mosier, son of Reyn and Susie Mosier, is from Silver Spring, Md., and is majoring in psychology, with a minor in applied behavior analysis.

n Traci Flanagan is from Omaha and is majoring in secondary education and biology, with an endorsement if coaching.

n Amber Gonka, daughter of Jim and Cindy Gonka, is from Columbus and is majoring in biology, with minors in chemistry and gerontology.

n Amber Wiles, daughter of John and Julianna Schweigart, is from Greenwood and is majoring in Psychology with a minor in applied behavior analysis.
