A Fremont High School student was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was accused of making a bomb threat at the school, Fremont Police reported.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with threatening to use an explosive device, a Class IV felony; and criminal mischief, a Class III misdemeanor. The boy was on juvenile probation for theft by shoplifting, a Class II misdemeanor, when he was arrested.

Lt. Glen Still said the boy was arrested at about

3:20 p.m. after the word “bomb” and a time were found written on a bathroom wall.

Detective Matt Hultquist said it is not believed that the boy was involved in bomb threats made in September that caused the high school to be placed in lock down. He said the school was not placed in lock down Thursday.

Other recent bomb threats found at the high school remain under investigation.

The boy was transported to the Douglas County Youth Detention Center where he is being held pending a detention hearing. That hearing has yet to have been set, but Deputy Dodge County Attorney Geri Gracek said she expected the hearing to take place on Monday.

She said she expects the new charges to remain in the juvenile court because of the boy’s limited criminal history.

The school district and CrimeStoppers have combined to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone involved in the bomb threats. Callers can remain anonymous. Anyone with information about the threats is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 727-4002.
