In an election year where the most-often-used word was “change,” an incumbent lost his seat on the Washington County Board of Supervisors.
In District 1 Challenger Kent Clausen, a Democrat, bested Republican and incumbent Marvin Rohwer with a vote of 783-680.
However, District 5 incumbent Jeff Quist, a Republican, won over challenger and Democrat Rebecca Fox by a vote of 837-670, while a write-in candidate earned 6 votes. In District 7, former supervisor Ronald Hineline, a Republican, won over Democrat Joe Peleska by a vote of 751-550.
Republican Mary Alice Johnson easily won the District 3 supervisor seat over a write-in candidate with a vote of 987-15.
Other Washington County election results included:
n Arlington: Michael Dwyer was the top vote-getter ” with 1,166 votes (includes Dodge County votes) ” in the Arlington School Board District 24 race. Gregory M. Sampson came in second with 899 votes and Kristie Magnino was third with 874 votes. All three will assume seats on the board. Gordon McGee lost his bid for a seat, earning 687 votes. Arlington voters approved the establishment of a lottery for community betterment by a vote of 378-209. They voted against a 1.5 percent sales tax which would have funded construction and repair of streets by a vote of 296-281. In the Arlington village board race Mark W. Sundberg earned 465 votes and Melvin “Red” Misfeldt earned 396 votes. Both will serve on the board.
n Herman: Michael Stang and Thomas Kegler will serve as Herman village trustees. Stang garnered 96 votes and Kegler earned 65 votes.
n Kennard: George Pearson, Darlys D. Sylvis and Richard F. Horsens will serve on the Kennard Village Board. Pearson earned 139 votes. Sylvis received 131 votes and Horsens, 107 votes.
n Washington: Kevin M. Propst, Louis L. Kologenski and Richard Japp will serve on the Washington Village board. Propst earned 57 votes, while Kologenski received 50 votes and Japp, 46.
