I used to take care of Earl at Merrick. He was such a sweet man and always had something to say:) He will be missed, especially his big smile! My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and Mildred.

Earl was quite a remarkable man. He was such easy going. He loved life and his children and grandchildren and all of his families and other relatives. He was so special to me. I enjoyed talking with him and seeing him. Living to be 106 is quite an accomplishment. He has seen a lot over the years of change of what has and is happening in this world. He did the things he had always wanted to do. It was so neat to read about him in the paper. We are so blessed to have known Earl. He is in heaven now smiling down on all of his relatives and letting us know he is in a great place. Shirley O. Gilbert 17548 SD Hwy 37 Frankfort, SD 57440 .

I personally never knew Mr. Nelson but my mother says she heard of him often through the grapevine. He delivered mail to "Emanuel country" around Webster, NE where my father Ralph grew up. I guess the mailman was an important part of life then. It's always bittersweet to hear of another passing from the generations who accomplished so much in the 20th century. I would love to have been a fly along for the ride as he delivered mail. Perhaps I could have learned some interesting things about my father's family and life.
