Twenty-eight of the nearly 3,800 graduate students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln were recognized Nov. 6 with some of the most prestigious fellowships offered by UNL. Recipients of the Fling Fellowship, the Presidential Fellowship and the Othmer Fellowship were awarded medals and recognized at the Lied Center for Performing Arts by Chancellor Harvey Perlman, Prem Paul, vice chancellor for research and economic development; and Ellen Weissinger, dean of graduate studies.

Only about 12 percent of fellowship applicants receive awards.

Nathan Probasco of Scribner was recognized as a recipient of a Othmer Fellowship. Othmer Fellowships assist in recruiting exceptional scholars who are seeking a terminal degree. Recipients are awarded an assistantship at the highest level offered by their department, plus an additional $7,500 for three years, given continued excellent progress toward the degree.

Probasco is seeking a Ph.D. in history.
