It’s amazing that some people are offended by citizens trying to rid Fremont of illegal aliens. These people need to be reminded that the United States is a country of laws which include immigration laws and these laws exist for a reason. As a citizen of this country, it is our duty to obey its laws and to defend it against all enemies. It is a violation of federal law to enter this country illegally. That is why people that do so are called "illegal aliens." Contrary to what Kristin Ostrom professes, these people are judged on their lack of legal status, not on what they look like.
Groups such as Appleseed, ACLU and Home is Nebraska Fremont and their supporters would have us believe that there is no difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is a violation of federal law to enter this country illegally. It is also a federal felony to aid and abet an illegal alien.
People coming into this country illegally are invading America and destroying it in the process. They steal from American taxpayers, theft that cost American citizens tens of billions of dollars every year. They are enemies of the United States and enemies of its citizens and should be treated accordingly.
Maybe people like Diana Kuhl, Kristin Ostrom and Gabby Ayala should devote more time helping to remove illegals rather than working for better wages, better working conditions and labor protection for them. That would be American, that would fulfill their duty as an American citizen. To me, their goals are un-American, unpatriotic and upside down.
In spite of what these people and groups advocate, this country needs more crackdowns on illegals, not less. To those that say that we can’t deport them all or shouldn’t deport them, take note that during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work. Harry Truman deported two million illegals after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans. In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 1.3 million Mexican nationals. The program was called "Operation Wetback" and it was done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took over two years but they deported them.
Now, if they could and did deport the illegals back then, they surely can and should do it today. The law, economy and uneployment rate dictate as much.

I couldn't agree with you more, that by supporting illegal immigration it is un-American. These self proclaimed do-gooders need to put their extra time and efforts into a different hobby. Stop attempting to medal in what is a Fremont, Nebraska issue and let the citizens choose what they'd like to see accomplished.
I'd personally like to see "Operation Wetback II" implemented with 20x the results of the first round.
