Two people were taken by air ambulance to the hospital after a single-vehicle rollover accident Monday morning.
Dodge County Sheriff Steve Hespen said Jared Sweet, 18, of Nickerson was northbound on County Road 23 in a 2005 Chevy Malibu at about 8:55 a.m. when he lost control shortly after crossing County Road P.
Sweet and a passenger, Daniel Hernandez, 26, of Nickerson were injured in the crash. Both were flown by air ambulance to Creighton Medical Center, Hespen said.
After losing control, the car swerved side to side before leaving the gravel road on the east side and flipping, hitting a utility pole in the process.
Fire and rescue crews from Nickerson and Hooper had to use extrication equipment to get victims out of the vehicle. An end loader was used to stabilize the car.
One witness on the scene said it took approximately a hour for crews to extricate the victims from the car.
