A Fremont man was taken to Dodge County Jail Thursday following his arrest after a traffic accident.
Fremont Police Sgt. Ed Watts said the two-car accident happened at approximately 4 p.m. at the intersection of 18th and Bell streets.
Following the accident, Watts said 38-year-old Peter O’Connell left the scene. The other driver involved in the accident followed O’Connell to the 1900 block of Mayfair Street, where officers arrived.
Watts said officers noticed that O’Connell was displaying signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and instability.
He was arrested for enhanced driving under the influence (blood-alcohol level higher than 0.15), leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield right of way to a vehicle.
Watts said O’Connell’s car sustained $700 damage while the other vehicle had $1,500 damage.
O’Connell was released after posting bond.
