Calvin W. McDaniel, 60, of Fremont died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island.
He was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Plattsmouth to Lee and Ruth (Goering) McDaniel. He moved to Fremont in 1964 and was a 1968 graduate of Fremont High School. He previously worked for the former Nebraska Natural Gas Co. in Fremont and later as a plumber. He then was employed at Del Kusel Construction in Omaha.
Calvin married Janie Downing on June 19, 1971, in Weeping Water. They later divorced.
Survivors include: a daughter, Cassandra (and husband, Justin Burt) of Fremont; a son, Cameron (and wife, Julie) McDaniel of Lancaster, Ohio; a brother, David McDaniel of Fremont; two sisters, Beth (and husband, Rick) Keenan of Fremont and Mary (and husband, Dean) Langholz of Grand Island; three grandchildren, Gabrielle and Aubrey Burt and Logan McDaniel; and his ex-wife, Janie McDaniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delbert McDaniel; and a sister, Beverly McDaniel.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Scott Jensen, chaplain of Fremont Area Medical Center, officiating. There is no visitation.
A memorial has been established to the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha.
