Play opens in McDonald’s Fremont Junior Open

Fremont’s Joseph Hoffman won his opening round match in the boys 18 singles division of the 2009 McDonald’s Fremont Junior Open Friday at the Fremont High School tennis courts.

Hoffman defeated fellow Fremont player Torrey Escamilla 6-2, 6-5.

In other matches involving Fremont competitors it was: Logan Baumberger falling to Bradley Bouland of Omaha and Trey Mueller falling to Andrew Bristol of Omaha in boys 12; and Brayden Zoucha falling to Trevor Milburn in boys 16 and then defeating Jackson Osborn 6-1, 6-0 in the consolation bracket. Luke Prescott drew a bye in the first round of boys 14.

The boys 14 doubles gets underway on Saturday with Prescott teamed with Rohan Khazanchi of Omaha. In boys 18 doubles Saturday Zoucha and Luke Samuelson will make up a team.
