Helping 4-H members build confidence and poise is the goal of the Modeling Clover College scheduled for Thursday.
The Clover College will take place from 7-9 p.m. in the Cuming County Courthouse Meeting Room in West Point.
Skills developed during the clinic will be valuable to members competing in upcoming area 4-H Fashion Revue judging and Public Fashion Revues. All 4-H’ers enrolled in Clothing, Decorate Your Duds, Attention Shoppers and Shopping in Style, parents and 4-H leaders are encouraged to attend the modeling clinic.
Participants are asked to pre-register for the clinic by Tuesday, by contacting UNL Extension in Cuming County at (402) 372-6006.
Kesa Alexander, marketing associate with Von Maur in Omaha, will open the Clover College sharing the details of her career in fashion merchandizing and will help participants develop skills to best present themselves and the outfits that they have created this year. Older 4-H’ers will work individually with participants, answering their questions and strengthening their skills.
Diane Knobbe of Style Plus in West Point will share the latest trends in accessories and will give participants hints on selecting the best accessories to enhance the look they wish to create. Based on her experiences as a 4-H fashion revue judge, Knobbe will share details of what judges look for as they evaluate fashion revue exhibits.
Kellie McKay of Pender will present a segment of the Clover College on makeup application and age-appropriate techniques.
Also during the Clover College, Deb Schroeder will assist participants in developing narrations for their fashion review entries and share simple social etiquette tips. Participants are encouraged to bring their completed outfits or their pattern envelopes and fabric to the clinics so that the presenters can answer questions specific to their outfits.
Participants will be able to complete and turn in their entries for the Cuming County Fashion Revue Judging during the modeling clinic. Entries are due on Friday.
