Fremont area residents should enjoy sunny skies and mild temperatures during the Labor Day weekend.

Ahhhh ... a welcome respite after a very soggy Thursday in which heavy rain led to flooded local streets. Water seeped onto lawns in an area near First Street and Luther Road. Motorists sprayed one another’s vehicles with water while driving on Broad Street near Linden Avenue.

Area weather spotters reported 1.80 inches in Fremont; 1.10 in Arlington; .95 in Hooper and .75 in Wahoo.

Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s on Saturday with southeast winds up to 10 mph.

Sunday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs also in the upper 70s and southeast winds of 5 to 15 mph.

Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the lower 60s.

A chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Tuesday night and Wednesday with highs in the mid 70 and lows in the lower 60s.

A 20 percent chance of rain is anticipated Wednesday night with lows in the upper 50s.

Sunny skies return Thursday with highs in the upper 70s.

are you sure our weather spotters don't have their rain gauges under a tree or something? Try more like 2.5 to 3 inches of rain.

I used to live in house pictured on 1st - the street always floods with heavy rain. Funny, we never had to carry flood insurance, yet in Washington Heights we did. Isn't there something that the city could do to alleviate the issue. The winter was the worse.

Is the city doing anything to remedy this issue? Infrastructure is in dire need for improvement. I have lived in the clarmar school area for 18 years and there always seems to be a flood when heavy rains hit.

Seems like that would be more than enough time for the city to figure this type of thing out.

Yes and who's run this town those 18 years???
Come on....

Fremont is a FLAT town. Of course it is going to flood when we get a hard, fast rain. Other flat towns have the exact same problem so Fremont is not alone. Where there is a low spot in the elevation, the water will pool there. Please use your common sense instead of blaming the city. If you are just patient, the water will recede.

sounds like come on may be a city employee or realitive of one. the city needs to upgrade their storm sewer system. take the cost of this project from the pay and or benefits of the city leaders, or get rid of the citys dead weight and spend the money wisely.

We live on North Platte. When it rains it always goes over the curb, and usually within 10 feet of our front door. The streets around us don't flood, just ours. We called someone from the City (Engineer?) because so much water had come up over the years we felt it was ruining our sidewalks, and wanted to know what to do. His comment was "I don't have any control over the rain". Not very nice at all. I told him how all this water was undermining our sidewalks, and I did not want the City to say our sidewalks were too bad and we would have to replace them at our cost. He said he would let us know. That was over a year ago and we never heard one word. I am taking pictures every time it rains, to show how far up in our yard the water comes. How can this City tax us more and more, but not want to take care of what is wrong?

One more reason to get out of Fremont. Just wait until feces are found again in your drinking water.

to resident:
your statement
"How can this City tax us more and more, but not want to take care of what is wrong?" can be explzined very easily. CORRUPTION. this is the only place i have ever lived where the homeowner is responsible for paying for the sidewalks that are located in a parkway. for those of you who dont know what a parkway is, its the area, including the sidewalk, between your yard and the street. the homeowner is responsible for grass cutting in the parkway and also for removing snow but not replacing or repairing the sidewalk.
its just another perfect example of how corrupted this town is. there may be other towns that do this, but it is wrong. to bill: you hit it right on the head. i personally cant believe that there are this many morons/idiots/blue hairs/ just plain dumb people in one town. these people have been taken for so many years that they are all numb from the neck up. sometimes its actually funny. thats why i rent. i wouldnt have a house in this hick town if you gave me one for free.
