WAHOO -- Book lovers had an opportunity to do some bargain hunting in Wahoo this past weekend.
The Friends of Wahoo Public Library hosted their annual book sale Thursday through Saturday at the library. Money raised during the event goes to enhance library programs that aren’t supported through tax dollars.
The majority of books for sale were donated by library patrons throughout the year.
“We end up every year getting a nice selection of books even though we’re a small town,” Friends of the Library member Lorri Urban said.
Urban said some people came to the sale with a list of books they were looking to find. Others simply browsed the selection of fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, magazines and other items.
“There’s a variety of things here and that’s part of the fun of it,” Urban said. “You never know what you’re going to find.”
Kristin Hurley of Wahoo said she liked having the opportunity to pick up some cheap books while helping the town’s library.
“They have a great variety and it’s nice to support the library,” Hurley said.
Jenna Hanson of Mead, also a member of the Friends of the Library, came to the sale with her daughters, 5-year-old Kaitlyn and 7-year-old Emily.
“I like it just because the girls can find new things and get off the books they normally read,” Hanson said.
Emily was enjoying the opportunity to look through the children’s books and brought several to her mother to purchase.
“We kind of let her have free reign over the kids’ stuff,” Hanson said.
