Larry Edward Anderson, 62, of Tabor, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood, Iowa.
He was born June 10, 1947, in Salina, Kan. to Lawrence A. and Dorothy Mae (Austin) Anderson. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1965 graduate of Fremont High School. He was a member of Demolay and an Eagle Scout. He married Carol Lee Halsey on Oct. 29, 1966, in Kearney. He attended Kearney State College and while in school, he worked as a laundry delivery driver, car salesman and was a hospital orderly. He graduated with a degree in education in 1970 and began working as a teacher and wrestling coach in Dorchester. He married Marsha Marie Snodgrass on May 25, 1990, in Omaha. They lived in several Nebraska communities and he worked in a care center for the mentally handicapped. He took a position as a resident treatment worker at the Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa and the family lived in several southwest Iowa communities until finally settling in Tabor, Iowa.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, Iowa and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include: his wife, Marsha; his father, Lawrence Anderson of Fremont; five children, Charles (and wife, Jennifer) Anderson of Nashville, Tenn., Julie (Mrs. Clayton) Buss of Lincoln and Carolyn Anderson, Donavan Anderson and Allyson Anderson, all of Tabor, Iowa; and a sister, Rochelle Anderson of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Anderson.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 24116 Marian Ave., in Glenwood, Iowa. A rosary prayer service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday and visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, all at Hertz Funeral Home, 112 N. Vine, in Glenwood. Burial will be at the Tabor Cemetery in Tabor, Iowa.

Larry and I were in were in the same homeroom for many years both graduating in 1965 from FHS.
