Lexi Taylor had 16 kills and fellow senior Brooke Burianek added 12 to lead Arlington to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-19 win over Tekamah-Herman on Monday night in a semifinal game of the C1-1 subdistrict tournament at Fremont High School.
Sophomore Riley Johnson had seven kills for the Eagles, 15-13.
Senior Alexandra Langley’s kill helped Tekamah-Herman force a 23-23 tie in the first game, but a Johnson kill broke the deadlock.
The second game was tied at 7, but Johnson had two kills and Allie Leaver had a block to help the Eagles score five straight points to take control.
The Eagles only led 9-7 in the third set, but a block by Burianek and kills from Taylor and Tara Wasenius helped the Eagles scored nine of the next 12 points for an 18-10 lead.
A Langley ace serve capped a 4-0 run by the Tigers to cut the gap to 18-14, but the Eagles didn’t let T-H get any closer.
Fort Calhoun advanced to the other semifinal by defeating Douglas County West 25-23, 25-14, 25-23. The win set up a match against top-seeded Bennington. The Badgers rolled to a 25-11, 25-11, 25-5 victory.
The Eagles will face the Badgers at 6:30 tonight in the title game.
