The TeamMates mentoring program will be raising money for scholarship funds this weekend.
The organization has scheduled a spaghetti dinner and raffle for noon to
2 p.m. Sunday at Fremont City Auditorium.
Money raised from the event will help provide scholarships for those students who remain active in TeamMates and want to go to college after they graduate from high school.
“We’re all about encouraging kids to think about their future, and that’s what this fund is all about,” said Nan Cunningham, Fremont Public Schools TeamMates coordinator.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free.
All TeamMates members wearing their T-shirts also will be admitted free.
In the past, the fundraiser has featured speakers such as Creighton men’s basketball coach Dana Altman and Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne.
Tickets to those events, though, were more expensive, Cunningham said.
“We want it to be more of a community-wide, family-oriented event,” she said.
Sunday’s event will feature entertainment by the Sheltered Reality drum corps. Ryan Chandler, a magician from Elkhorn, and Mike Mennard, a children’s musician from Lincoln, also will perform.
There also will be several Husker items that will be raffled off, and each ticket holder has a chance to win two club seat tickets with a parking pass to Nebraska’s Nov. 21 home game against Kansas State.
“It’ll be a fun day to celebrate mentoring and celebrate TeamMates in Fremont,” Cunningham said.
