SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- The Midland Lutheran College women’s soccer team capped the regular season in fashion Saturday downing Dordt College 2-1 to finish in second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings.
The win was the team’s 10th in a row and upped its record to 14-3.
The Lady Warriors are seeded second in the GPAC tournament which gets underway Thursday when they host Dana College at 2 p.m. at Christensen Field.
Amanda Grable opened the scoring with a shot through the right side to give MLC a 1-0 lead 18 minutes into the game.
Midland held the lead until the 54-minute mark when Noelle Kreykes headed a Kate Du Mez cross fro the right side that beat Midland keeper Sorina Mychackavane.
Natasha Heil, though, gave Midland the lead again when she corralled the ball after an unsuccessful clearing attempt by the Dordt defense and slipped it past keeper Steph Goslinga at the 64-minute mark.
Mychackavane ended the game with four saves and Goslinga had five.
Dordt outshot Midland 18-10 in the game.

The Midland men’s soccer team defeated Dordt 1-0 Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa to end the regular season with a 5-6-1 record in the GPAC and 7-8-1 overall.
Danny Pollard scored the lone goal of the game at the 18-minute mark.
Eric Vrba ended with two saves for Midland who outshot Dordt 15-6 in the game.
MLC opens GPAC tournament play Tuesday when they travel to Sioux Falls to face the University of Sioux Falls at 7 p.m.
