Cedar Bluffs cruised past Omaha Christian in the opening round of the subdistrict tournament on Monday.
The Wildcats won Monday’s match 25-15, 25-7, 25-19.
CBHS defeated Mead in Tuesday night’s subdistrict final and now face Pawnee City in the Class D1-1 district final Thursday at a site and time yet to be determined.
“After a slow start behind the serving line, the girls did turn it around and serving became an effective part of our offense,” CBHS head coach Janelle Stansberry said about the opening-round win. “We had 17 ace serves after starting out with seven missed serves in the first set.”
Taryn Tenopir had nine kills while Tana Stansberry, Kealy Schilke, Alexis Egger and Sam Roumph had four apiece. Stansberry ended with 21 set assists and also added seven digs. Courtney Cleveringa had eight ace serves and Alexis Egger ended with five. Kelsey Kruse had seven digs. Tenopir added two ace blocks.
“At the net our attackers did a nice job on overkills. They also did an excellent job of keeping the ball in play and limiting unforced errors,” Janelle Stansberry said. “Our hitting efficiency as a team was .269 so they did their jobs in the front row.”
