A Fremont man led police on a foot chase before he was arrested Thursday afternoon for violating a sex offender residency restriction.
Fremont Police Lt. Kurt Bottorff said Joshua M. Simmons, 26, also was charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and obstructing a police officer.
The incident began after an officer went to the
1500 block of North H Street to follow up on an address Simmons had listed as his residence. The two had brief contact before Simmons fled. He was located and charged.
Detective Joyce Henke said Simmons was in violation of a city ordinance, passed in June 2008, that restricts Level 3 sex offenders from living within 500 feet of a school or daycare.
As of this morning, he remained in the Dodge County Jail this morning and no bond had been set.
