Rose L. Bauer, 101, of Neligh, formerly of Ewing, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Neligh.
She was born Feb. 29, 1908, in Hanover, Kan., to Louis and Magdalena (Prellwitz) Bohn. The family moved to Ewing and she attended Ewing Public Schools and graduated from Ewing High School. She attended St. Catherine’s School of Nursing in Omaha for one year.
She married Alfred Bauer of the Deloit community on Feb. 28, 1935, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Three daughters and two sons were born to this union. She worked for many years at several Ewing businesses, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and their Christian Mothers organization.
Survivors include: her three daughters, Geraldine Bauer of Fremont, Catherine Chapman of Fremont and MaryAnn Shrader (and husband, Doug) of Hanover Park, Ill.; a son, Jerry Bauer (and wife, Deb) of Ewing; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Bauer of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1947; her parents; a son, Louis; a grandson; five brothers; three sisters; a son-in-law; and three nephews.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter de Alcantara Catholic Church in Ewing with the Rev. James Kramper officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a Christian Mothers’ rosary at 7 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Vandersnick Cemetery in rural Ewing.
