Enrollment events are planned

Now is the time to schedule a maintenance check-up for your Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.

The Medicare Prescription Drug Plan undergoes some type of evolution every year and the only way you can make sure your prescription drug program meets your needs is to compare your prescriptions to the 44 plans approved for Nebraska.

The Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Open Enrollment season is Sunday through Dec. 31. This is the time for your annual "Prescription Drug Plan Check Up." You have no obligation to stay with your current plan; it was just a one-year contract. You can change plans each year with no penalty.

There are prescription drug plans that have a deductible and others that don’t. Some have coverage through the gap for generic drugs and others have no gap coverage.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Comparison and Enrollment Events will be held in Fremont, Blair, Herman and in several Burt County locations.

In Washington County, a comparison/open enrollment session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the village office in Herman. Another session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the UNL Extension office in Blair. Call the UNL Extension office in Washington County at (402) 426-9455 for an appointment at either of these locations.

In Fremont, check up sessions are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9-10 at the Dodge County Extension office. Call (402) 727-2775 for a Fremont appointment.

Burt County has a number of check up sessions. Call the UNL Extension Office at (402) 374-2929 to make an appointment for any of these sessions:

* Wednesday: 9 a.m. to noon, Lyons Public Library; 1-5 p.m. KH Insurance office, Decatur.

* Thursday: 9 a.m. to noon, Oakland Public Library.

* Nov. 23: 3:30-5:30 p.m., Tekamah-Herman High School computer room.

* Nov. 24: 9 a.m. to noon, Oakland Public Library; 3:30-5:30 p.m., Tekamah-Herman High School computer room.

* Nov. 30: 9 a.m. to noon. Lyons Public Library; 3:30-5:30 p.m., Tekamah-Herman High School computer room.
