Friendship Center in Fremont offers opportunities for older adults

“Everything we do here is for social interaction,” said Laurie Harms, senior center manager.

“Gain new friendships and renew old,” Harms added.

From exercise groups to games, an array of activities awaits.

“We have three pool tables, eight computers, a large-screen TV and Nintendo Wii,” Harms said.

The center is open to those 50 and older, but geared toward 60 and above.

Extended hours on Tuesdays--until 8 p.m.--were recently added.

“People are working longer, so the doors are open to those people,” Harms said.

“This is an amazing place for seniors to come."
