Construction projects at Fremont Area Medical Center are on schedule, a spokeswoman for the hospital said.

“FAMC's East Campus is progressing nicely,” Fachman said. “Construction will complete on the new Medical Office Building over the next couple of months and some residents are scheduled to move in during October. A new roundabout has been poured on East Campus, and we will continue to work on the road/driveway system.”

Fachman said the East Campus is the area directly across Clarkson Street from Fremont Area Medical Center, including the former Alco Building.

Fremont Area Medical Center bought the former discount store building for $2 million in 2005 as a means to expand the hospital's services and expand its otherwise landlocked 16.5-acre campus. The hospital’s property across Clarkson Street is about 4.3 acres.

Original plans to gut the former discount store and remodel it for medical offices was replaced by plans to develop a new East Campus in 2007. Members of the Dodge County Board of Supervisors approved the new plan in November 2008.

Fremont Area Medical Center is owned by Dodge County but uses no property tax dollars in its operations.

At some point, the former medical office building at 2350 N. Clarkson will be demolished, she continued. However, a target date for the demolition hasn’t been set because several offices in that building still need to relocate.

Plans for the new Sleep Center are under way, she said. The Sleep Center will be built north of Fremont Family Care.

“Construction costs and plans are in for the Sleep Center, and we foresee construction beginning very soon and hope to have it completed just after the first of the year.”

Also, Dr. Bryce Lund’s Nephrology Care moved to the new location at 712 Reynolds Road, next to Fremont Family Care, at the beginning of August.

Other areas of Fremont Area Medical Center will get new looks, she said.

The hospital’s maternity unit, called Precious Beginnings, will receive “cosmetic upgrades” over the next several months, and several units in A.J. Merrick Manor, the care center connected to the north of the hospital’s main campus, will be remodeled. Space in A.J. Merrick Manor is being expanded for a rehabilitation program.

With the upcoming construction projects for Fremont Area Medical Center, Fachman pointed out work on the new Imaging Center is finished. The Imaging Center has been open for more than a year with the internal remodeling on the connecting section of the old building completed at the end last year.
