Rodney L. “Rod” Roemer, 63, of Scribner died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home in Scribner.
Rod was born March 26, 1946, in Fremont to Otto and Gertrude (Steinke) Roemer. He lived in the Scribner area his whole life. Rod attended District 12 school and graduated from Scribner High School in 1964. After high school he served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a tank driver from 1964 to 1970. He was a lifetime farmer and truck driver working for the Scribner Grain Company.
Rod married Sandra Hoefner on May 19, 1968, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper.
Rod loved his family so much and looked forward to family get togethers, especially at their home. He loved the grandkids and the appearance of a grandson in the family made him so proud. He looked forward to seeing them so much. He loved his home and his German shepherd dog, Buster. He put a lot of work and effort into planting trees, another love.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandy of Scribner; daughters, Tammy Wordekemper of Fremont and granddaughter, Taylor, Wendy (and husband, Josh) Dunn of Lincoln and granddaughter, Logan, and grandson, Brayden; brothers, Otto (and wife, Denise) Roemer of Scribner, Gerald (and wife, Jean) Roemer of Hooper and Martin (and wife, Janice) Roemer of Casa Grande, Ariz.; sisters, Donna (and husband, Robert) Robinson of Imperial Beach, Calif., and Bonnie (and husband, Jim) Henshaw of Lincoln; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nona and Win Hoefner of Fremont.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen’s Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner with the family receiving friends from 3-6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation and Humane Society.
