State Legislature

Six senators represent this area in the Nebraska Unicameral in Lincoln. The Legislature is non-partisan and the only unicameral legislature in the nation.

Sen. Ramon Janssen from Nickerson, represents the 15th District, which includes the city of Fremont and Dodge County. Sen. Janssen can be reached at 210 Cedar St., P.O. Sen. Chris Langemeier from Schuyler, represents the 23rd District, which includes all of Butler County and parts of Colfax, Douglas, Sarpy and Saunders counties. Sen. State Leaders

Dave Heineman, a Fremont Republican, was sworn into office as Nebraska's 39th Governor on Jan. 21, 2005. He was elected to his first full term in 2006.

Prior to becoming governor, he served more than three years as lieutenant governor, having been appointed in October 2001 and elected to a new four-year term in November 2002. Previously he had been elected state treasurer in 1994 and re-elected in 1998. Prior to being elected state treasurer, he served four years on the Fremont City Council, including two years as chairman of the Resources Committee.

Heineman and his wife, Sally Ganem, have one son, Sam.
