Employment Benefits
Your Health
The Fremont Tribune contributes a substantial portion of the health, dental and life insurance premiums for our employees. Employees and their eligible dependents are currently offered the following plans:
Medical Coverage
Employees can choose one of three plans that best meets their needs and the needs of their families. Coverage becomes effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
Dental Coverage
Eligible employees may enroll in our dental plan which includes orthodontia benefits.
Vision Coverage
Employees may choose between the Comprehensive plan and the Discount plan. The Discount Plan is provided at no charge to eligible employees.
Prescription Drug Plan
A prescription drug plan is included with two of the three medical plans. The prescription drug benefits offer the flexibility to purchase medications either at a local retail pharmacy or through mail-order service.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Dependent Daycare and Health Care Flexible Spending accounts are available to set aside pre-tax income for reimbursement of applicable daycare and health care expenses not otherwise covered by insurance.
Life Insurance
Eligible employees are provided life insurance at no cost equal to one time their annual earnings. Employees can further increase this benefit by electing coverage to four times their annual earnings. The employee cost for these other optional levels of coverage are based on age and annual base pay. Evidence of insurability is required at certain coverage levels.
Dependent Life Insurance
Employees can choose this optional employee paid benefit, which provides a death benefit in the event an eligible dependent dies. The cost depends on the coverage level elected.
